Porn Addiction

Sexual addiction can be described as a preoccupation with sex or obsessive thoughts of sex. Individuals who struggle with sexual addiction spend enormous amounts of time engaging in sexual activity in spite of negative social, occupational and relational consequences. Compulsive masturbation, exhibitionism, voyeurism, phone sex and compulsive use of porn are some forms of sexual addiction.

One of the most common expressions of sexual addiction is the compulsive use of internet porn. This is characterised by obsessive viewing, reading and thinking about pornography and sexual themes to the detriment of other areas of one’s life. Internet porn is more addictive than ordinary porn because of its widespread availability, explicit nature and the privacy online viewing offers.

If you feel your sexual behaviour and thinking is affecting your life, work and relationships, you might want to consider seeking help.
